TONI MARTIN DOBRZANSKI
(born 1980, Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish composer with Polish roots, obsessed with learning, creating change & development through sounds & music while focusing on projects that have a positive impact on our world.
Through the years of working as a composer Toni Martin has created soundtracks for feature films, documentaries, theatres, danceshows, television, commercials and campaigns. He has worked with directors and production companies in countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, USA, Russia and others. Currently he was nominated for best score at the Austrian ROMY awards for the feature film Geschichten vom Franz. He has received several nominations and awards throughout the years for his work. Some that are worth mentioning are: ROMY (nomination), Sound Track Cologne (nominations), Danish True Awards (nomination), BLUE Ocean Film Festival (nomination & award), International Movie Awards (award), The Isadora Duncan Dance Awards (nomination), Swedish Scenkonstgalan (nominations & award).
His latest work counts the feature film Geschichten vom Franz which has been on the top 3 of most seen movies in cinemas across Austria. He also created music and sound design for Midsummer Night’s Dream in 5.1.4 surround which was the opening play of the newly renovated Malmö City Theatre together with director Sara Cronberg and scenographer Lizzie Clachan. To mention some documentaries Fremmede i Karl Oves Paradis which had broadcast on the Danish television station DR as well as the controversial documentary The Accused: Damned or Devoted? for BBC are worth mentioning. While working on the classic Cyrano de Bergerac he created an acoustical trio score played live on stage through analogue effect pedals and loopers, creating a mix of classical music with an electronic sound.
Toni Martin’s musical language tends to draw on using acoustical instruments – ranging from symphonic orchestras to smaller ensembles – which melts together in either electronic sound scapes, twisted sound design, “misuse” of instruments, or an electro-pop sound. His creative work can be explained as a playground where the search for the unique sound for each individual project always is in focus. Either performing live on stage or creating a multi-channel surround experiences in large scale theatre performances it is always a search for the unique and personal expression.
Toni Martin is also currently active with the release of the electro-pop album VUE in the duo AMiBA.
He is the founder of the company soundsound which is specialised in music & sound for moving images and human expression. The sound studios are situated in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden.
